When you think of Julia Roberts, it’s difficult to see her as anything other than a talented actress. That’s why it’s a bit surprising to learn that it may now have been her first career choice. When she was a little girl, Roberts dreamed of becoming a veterinarian one day. Luckily, she didn’t pursue that, and instead, she graced us on the screen.

She told Ellen DeGeneres, “I saw Rex Harrison play Doctor Dolittle when I was a kid, and I thought. ‘Well, I have that power. I can talk to animals. What is wrong with you today? Oh, I see. But then I started taking science and biology and realized, ‘Wow, that is hard. I’ll just be an actor’.”
