Welcoming Emilio into the World
When Janet and Martin Sheen got married in 1961, it was around the time Martin’s acting career started to take off. The couple welcomed their first child and son, Emilio, on May 12th, 1962, while they were still living in New York City. But with Martin’s rising fame, came a rise in the amount he was drinking. And when Martin Sheen got drunk, he got angry.

Sadly, when Emilio was still young, Martin would beat Emilio up in his bouts of drunken rage. Obviously, his relationship with his son suffered as a result of alcohol abuse. But they eventually started to rebuild their father-son relationship after Martin made the vital move to become, and stay, sober.
