Jolene Blalock portrays Commander T’Pol, who is a Vulcan serving as the science officer on the Starship Enterprise. They almost had someone else in mind for the role of the Vulcan officer on the starship, but some legal difficulties were getting who they wanted, so they created T’Pol. Before T’Pol came along, the most extended amount of time a Vulcan officer was on a human ship was 10 days.

Her character was exposed to a toxic substance, and it ended up damaging the part of her brain, which was responsible for emotional control.
