The Big Curry
Eddy Curry had the height as well as the potential to be great. But he didn’t have the mentality. At 7 feet and 300 pounds, he let his mass get the best of him. Running up and down the court with other big-bodied players is hard if you’re out of shape! One season was really bad when he was meant to play for new head coach Mike D’Antoni, who preferred an up-tempo style of play.
The seven-footer guy was not as unstoppable as we imagined on the boards, or as a matter of fact, a difference-maker on defense. Regardless, he could score and he could definitely take up space in the paint. For many, these qualities are more than enough to make him a fairly important player in a league that was (and still is) starved for productive centers.
