Pillows – Do

We all know that we can put pillowcases in the washing machine, but did you know that you can just throw the whole pillow in there? It’s actually recommended that you wash your pillows in the washing machine twice a year. Just check the tag first, and if your pillow has a “dry clean only” label, then obviously don’t put it in.

Consumer Reports suggests washing them “two pillows at a time” to balance the load. This will also make sure that “water and detergent circulate more effectively.” For feather and down pillows, you should also use a little bit of powder detergent because the liquid will leave a residue. Polyester pillows can be washed using a tablespoon of liquid soap. Just make sure you wash on a gentle cycle using warm water.
