Following her relationships with Ashton Kutcher and Jeff Kwatinetz, Murphy wanted to tone it down. When she met Joe Macaluso, a production assistant of the set of her movie Little Black Book, she decided to take it slow. And when I say slow, I mean extremely slow.

Murphy and Macaluso went on a total of 17 dates together before finally sharing their first kiss. That’s pretty impressive. But after that, things sped up dramatically. In December 2005, Macaluso proposed to the actress and she couldn’t wait to be his wife.
