The Harsh Reality of Jungle Life
Many species of animals, especially big cats such as jaguars, abandon their young that they deem unfit to survive – usually because of a physical defect or sickness at birth. This was the case for poor Jiquitaia the jaguar, whose fate was left uncertain when he was abandoned in the Brazilian section of the Amazon jungle as a young cub.

Vulnerable to the elements, as well as other animals and hunters, Jiquitaia faced a tragic death.
