Mediterranean Diet

Although it has been popular since the 1960s, American biologist Dr. Ancel Keys and chemist Margaret Keys were the first to publicize the Mediterranean Diet in 1975. It consists mainly of fruits, vegetables, and healthy fatty foods such as fish, whole grains, beans, seeds, nuts, and olive oil.It recommends limiting red meat intake to a few times a month, eating fish and poultry at least twice a week, and drinking red wine in moderate amounts.

Studies have shown that the Mediterranean Diet not only promotes weight loss but also reduces the risk of heart disease, among others.
